Control who holds a key — and which doors it opens
Restricted key systems control who is permitted to duplicate a key — additional keys can only be produced through an authorised process, reducing the risk of unauthorised copies and unreturned keys after staff or contractors leave. Master key systems solve a different problem: they control which doors each key is permitted to open.
The two can be combined — individual staff might hold keys that only open selected doors, while a manager or owner holds a master key for broader access, all using controlled restricted keys.
Upfront pricing, before work begins
My standard call-out fee is $110, with labour and materials quoted based on the job. In many cases I can provide an estimate over the phone if you send through photos and details of the locks or doors involved.
Rekeying is often more economical than replacing existing locks — if the hardware is still in good condition, the internal keying can usually be changed so old keys stop working, without replacing the lock itself.
Building and fire code compliant hardware
Given the potential danger to life and the penalties for commercial premises without adequate exit doors, All Star Lock & Key only installs locks suitable for the property and compliant with applicable building and fire codes — including fire-rated locks for apartments and single-action exits for exit doors.
