Pricing depends on the time of day, how far I'm travelling and what the job involves. These are realistic starting figures for gaining entry — not a teaser rate that changes once I arrive.

Plenty of locksmith listings advertise round-the-clock availability. Many of those numbers route to a call centre that then tries to find someone in your area — which is how people end up waiting two hours for a subcontractor they've never spoken to, at a price that bears no resemblance to the one quoted.

All Star Lock & Key is one person. When you call, you're speaking to me, and I'll tell you honestly whether I can get to you and what it will cost. Late at night that depends on whether I'm awake and free — no one person is genuinely available every hour of every day. If I can't attend in a reasonable timeframe, I'll say so, and where I can, I'll point you toward someone who can.

• Should I call now or wait until morning?+
  If you're locked out, unsafe, or a property has been broken into, call now. If it's a spare key, a worn lock that still works, a rekey after a tenant has left, or anything that isn't stopping you getting inside, you'll pay noticeably less by waiting for standard hours — from $145 during the week against $220 and up after hours. Call either way and I'll tell you honestly which one you're dealing with.
• How much is a callout?+
  During standard hours (Mon–Fri 9am–5pm) a lockout starts from $145. After hours it starts from $220 — between 5pm and 8pm expect $220–$250 to gain entry, and between 8pm and 10pm expect $270–$350. After 10pm starts from $330 subject to availability. Location and the specifics of the job affect the final figure, and vehicles are quoted separately by make and model. You'll get the price before I leave, not after I arrive.
• Do you attend jobs after 10pm?+
  Sometimes — late-night callouts start from $330 and depend on availability. All Star Lock & Key is one person rather than a roster, so I can't guarantee being awake and free at 2am. Call and you'll get a straight answer either way: if I can come out, I'll tell you when and what it costs, and if I can't, I'll say so rather than leave you waiting.
• How quickly can you get here?+
  Most locations across Perth's southern suburbs are 30–60 minutes depending on traffic and where you are. Areas further south toward Mandurah take longer. I'll give you a realistic estimate on the phone rather than an optimistic one.
• Will you damage my door or lock getting in?+
  The aim is always non-destructive entry, and in most cases that's achievable. Where a lock is already damaged — after a break-in, for example — or where the locking system leaves no other option, I'll explain what's involved and what it means before starting any work.
• I've lost every key to my car. Can you help?+
  Usually, yes. All keys lost on a vehicle means originating a new key and programming it to the car, which takes longer than a simple lockout and varies considerably between makes. Give me the make, model and year on the phone and I'll tell you what's involved and what it costs.
• Someone has my keys. Should I rekey or replace the locks?+
  Rekeying is usually the better option if the existing locks are in good condition — the internal keying is changed so old keys stop working, and the hardware stays in place. It's typically quicker and cheaper than replacement. If the locks are worn or damaged, replacing them may make more sense.
• Can you secure my property after a break-in?+
  Yes. The first priority is getting the property secure again the same visit. Depending on the damage, that may be a repair on the spot or a temporary measure with proper replacement arranged shortly after. I'll explain which applies before starting.
• How can I pay?+
  Cash, EFTPOS, PayID and Afterpay. Afterpay transactions incur a surcharge.
